Direct Sales is a very rewarding home based business choice. It offers you a duplicatable model with a proven record of sucess. However, starting your own business can be scary. Here are some tips to help you succeed in your new business.
You just started and need to book your first 6 parties to take advantage of all the great benefits your company is offering! Gulp, now what?
Let's take a look at why people book:
True or False: The main reason someone books a party is for free products
The answer: FALSE
Double hostess incentive aside, your friends are not going to book for the products, though it may be an added bonus.
Why, then, do people book?
Well, there are different groups of people, your WARM market and the Rest.
WARM MARKET:
Let's make a list of your WARM Market
See if you can come up with a few names for each category:
Close Friends
Direct Family (mom, sister, inlaws)
Neighbors
Friends from high school
Cousins who you are close to
Teachers
Grandma's (not your own)
Those you know from church or synagogue
Parents of your kids friends
Someone who loves to open their house
These are all people you know. Why do they want to host?
TO HELP YOU OUT!
You heard me right. Your friends and family like to help you out. So call them and ask them for their help (or opinion!).
"Hi Sue! I am so excited, I just started selling Twinbots! Have you heard of the company? I have a little favor to ask of you. I know how your family is always saying you need a robot to do the dishes, well you would be doing me a great favor if you invited 10 friends over so I can show you all the Twinbots we have. And as a thank you, you'll get a free Twinbot of your own! How does that sound?"
If you don't want to use the "Favor" card, use the "Opinion" card.
Always schedule your own open house. Actually, I have no idea why I tell everyone to do this, when ever I host one, it bombs. But, for some it is the best step they took to getting started. When calling your guests, yes, I said CALLING (if you skip this step don't expect a big turn out), let them know you want their opinion on your new products! Everyone wants to tell you what they think.

2.) Booking Outside Your Warm Market
Now that you have booked your first few parties, it's time to move outside your circle of friends. If all went well, you should have received bookings from those parties. However, life doesn't always go as planned.
Now it's time to move on out!
Find a booth or event where you can ACTIVELY meet new customers, team members and hostesses! The key here is to get to introduce your product to new people.
Be a detective. Look for events which fit what you have to offer. If you sell toys and a daycare is expanding, give them a call. If you sell candles and someone needs a fundraiser, see if you can help.
Become an expert/speaker! Offer to talk to different organizations about your "expertise".
Call Mom's Groups and Clubs!
Get on that phone! Be creative. Look outside the box.
